Career and Financial Coaching Intern

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking a motivated Career and Financial Coaching Intern to support refugees, asylees, and other humanitarian immigrants in the Baltimore metropolitan area. You will work closely with IRC employment specialists to help clients achieve self‑sufficiency through job search assistance, interview preparation, and employer outreach.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct one‑on‑one sessions with clients to identify employment barriers and explain the U.S. job search process.
• Prepare clients for interviews through virtual coaching and group job‑readiness training.
• Collaborate with the economic empowerment team to develop and implement individualized employability plans.
• Research potential employers, conduct cold‑calls, and assist clients with transportation logistics for interviews.
• Support clients in completing new‑hire paperwork and maintain accurate case notes and documentation.
• Assist with any additional tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Required profile

• Interest or prior experience working with refugees, immigrants, or in workforce development is preferred.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a fast‑paced, global team.
• Strong problem‑solving skills, reliable follow‑through, and meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
