Cardiac Ultrasound Technologist – Per Diem

About the role

The Cardiac Ultrasound Technologist provides high‑quality transthoracic and stress echocardiography imaging for adult and geriatric patients at Lehigh Valley Health Network. This per‑diem position supports diagnostic evaluation of cardiac structure and function.

Key responsibilities

• Perform transthoracic and stress echocardiography studies per protocol, including transducer selection, equipment knobology, and all required measurements.
• Conduct patient intake, verify ID and orders, review clinical data, explain procedures, obtain vitals, and administer ultrasound enhancement agents as needed.
• Document findings in a Technical Sonographer Report and provide medication/IV insertion when required.
• Proctor and train new hires, students, interns, and fellows.
• Participate in performance improvement initiatives and adhere to department policies, quality, and safety standards.

Required profile

• High School Diploma/GED with on‑the‑job cardiac ultrasound training and >5 years experience, or Technical School Diploma in Cardiac Ultrasound with registry within one year of hire.
• RDCS‑Reg (Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer) or RCS (Registered Cardiac Sonographer) certification in Pennsylvania within 1 year.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification in Pennsylvania within 30 days.
• Ability to position patients, transport equipment, and respond to emergencies.
