Business Manager – Sustainable Agriculture Research & Education

About the role
The Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE) program seeks a Business Manager to support its National Reporting, Coordinating, and Communications Office (NRCCO). Based in College Park, MD, the role works closely with the SARE Associate Director to oversee administrative functions that enable the delivery of technical guides, workshops, and grant‑related services for farmers and agricultural partners.
Key responsibilities
- Manage five 5‑year cooperative agreements (approximately $1.5M‑$2.0M each) and around 50 contracts, subawards, and service agreements.
- Oversee material distribution, national in‑person workshops (2‑3 per year), and virtual meetings (2‑3 per year).
- Maintain the digital grant management system and ensure compliance with USDA NIFA and University of Maryland procedures.
- Develop and update SARE websites and communication resources.
- Coordinate national workshops, outreach initiatives, and cross‑regional information sharing.
- Support special projects and national initiatives as needed.
Required profile
- Experience with university education and outreach programs.
- Familiarity with UMD administrative offices, procedures, and data systems.
- Experience working with USDA grants and contracts.
- Ability to plan and execute travel within the United States.
- Strong organizational and collaborative skills.
