Business Manager

About the role

The Business Manager provides budget oversight, supervises the Accounting Specialist, and manages human resources and administrative functions for the Office of Testing and Evaluation Services (OTES) at LSU.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as primary financial and administrative advisor to the Director, overseeing multiple restricted and unrestricted accounts.
• Develop, monitor, and analyze departmental budgets, prepare projections and financial reports.
• Supervise the Accounting Specialist and provide training and professional development.
• Manage HR functions for full‑time, contingent, transient, and student workers, including hiring, onboarding, payroll, and compliance.
• Oversee purchasing activities, ensure compliance with LSU procurement policies, and manage contracts and service agreements.
• Maintain and disseminate relevant federal, state, university, and divisional policies, and ensure audit readiness.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) and at least three years of related experience.
• Experience managing budgets, financial transactions, personnel processes, or administrative operations.
• Strong organizational, analytical, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to LSU policies and procedures.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Experience with financial, HR, or administrative systems.
