About the role
The School Bus Monitor ensures the safety and proper conduct of K‑5 students while they travel on the school bus. This part‑time position supports the mission of Roger Bacon Academy by fostering a disciplined, caring environment on each bus route.
Key responsibilities
- Direct student loading and unloading to prevent congestion and ensure safe boarding and disembarking.
- Monitor seating assignments, enforce bus rules, and intervene to prevent altercations or damage to the bus.
- Maintain order, collect trash, and keep the interior of the bus clean after each trip.
- Report any bus malfunctions, participate in safety drills, and ensure no child is left behind after the route.
Required profile
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for interaction with children, drivers, parents, and staff.
- Strong problem‑solving abilities and the capacity to follow oral and written instructions.
- Prior experience in early childhood educational settings is a plus.
