Biological R&D Scientist – Vaccine Research

About the role
We are seeking Biological R&D Scientists to join Bimeda’s Vaccine R&D team in Omaha. The role supports discovery, development and characterization of vaccines for livestock and aquaculture species, operating under USDA CVB and GLP standards. Positions range from entry‑level to senior, depending on experience.
Key responsibilities
- Design, execute and interpret experiments on antigen expression, purification, characterization, adjuvant selection and formulation.
- Perform core molecular biology, microbiology and cell‑culture techniques such as PCR, cloning, Western blot and ELISA.
- Run immunological assays (SNT, VN, HI, ELISA, ELISpot, multiplex cytokine, FACS) and develop new assays at senior levels.
- Support or lead in‑vitro and in‑vivo safety and efficacy studies, including vaccination‑challenge trials.
- Maintain GLP‑compliant laboratory records, prepare reagents, media and challenge materials.
- Contribute to USDA Outline of Production, license applications, study reports and SOPs.
- Collaborate with Regulatory, Manufacturing and Quality teams and present findings.
- Mentor junior staff on techniques and compliance (senior levels).
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Immunology, Virology, Biochemistry or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Relevant laboratory research experience ranging from 0‑2 years (Scientist I) to 4+ years (Scientist III/IV) or equivalent post‑doctoral/industry experience.
- Ability to work under supervision or independently depending on level.
- Experience with GLP laboratory practices and documentation.
