Bilingual Receptionist & Paralegal (English/Spanish)

About the role

We are seeking a bilingual (English/Spanish) Receptionist and Paralegal to be the first point of contact for clients and to support the day‑to‑day operations of our criminal defense and civil litigation practice. This full‑time, onsite position combines front‑desk duties with substantive legal support across criminal, immigration, and civil matters.

Key responsibilities

• Answer and screen incoming calls in English and Spanish, providing courteous client service.
• Conduct client intake interviews, gather information, and schedule consultations.
• Draft, proofread, and translate legal correspondence, motions, pleadings, and client communications.
• Maintain case files, track deadlines, and manage court dates using the firm’s case management system.
• Assist with court filings, discovery requests, subpoenas, and preparation of civil litigation documents.
• Communicate with courts, prosecutors, opposing counsel, and government agencies on behalf of the firm.
• Provide Spanish interpretation during client meetings as needed.

Required profile

• Fluent in written and spoken English and Spanish (required).
• 1–3 years of experience in a law firm or legal environment preferred.
• Strong organizational abilities and capacity to manage multiple priorities under deadlines.
• Professional phone presence and empathy for clients in challenging situations.
• Dependable, discreet, and detail‑oriented.
• Availability to work full‑time, Monday‑Friday, onsite at the Houston office.

Required skills

• Microsoft Office suite.
• Experience with Clio or a comparable case‑management software.
