Bilingual Intake Specialist

About the role

The Bilingual Intake Specialist joins the Compass Family Resource Center to conduct initial intake interviews with families seeking support. This full‑time, onsite position works Monday‑Friday, 9 am‑5 pm, and plays a key part in connecting families to eligible programs and community resources.

Key responsibilities

• Welcome families, conduct assessments, and guide them through available services and options.
• Screen families for program eligibility, complete Navigation Forms, and provide direct referrals.
• Collaborate with the Office Manager/Receptionist to ensure smooth family flow within the center.
• Train and mentor interns and volunteers on intake best practices.
• Maintain accurate records in the Salesforce database and manage client information.
• Support Distribution Center operations, including inventory management and distribution of basic needs items.

Required profile

• Fluency or professional proficiency in both Spanish and English.
• Understanding of trauma‑informed care and issues facing homeless families.
• Knowledge of San Francisco social service resources.
• Experience working in crisis situations with the ability to de‑escalate quickly.
• Strong communication, reliability, teamwork, and organizational habits.
• Ability to lift at least 25 lb.
