Bilingual Immigration Paralegal / Legal Assistant

About the role

We are seeking a mid‑level bilingual immigration paralegal/legal assistant to join our remote team. The successful candidate will work closely with attorneys, handling substantive case work rather than just intake and filing, and will be responsible for drafting and managing immigration filings in both English and Spanish.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, draft, and edit immigration petitions, applications, motions and supporting briefs for USCIS, EOIR and DHS.
• Manage a diverse caseload that includes asylum, TPS, adjustment of status, naturalization, work permits, waivers and removal defense.
• Support employment‑based matters such as H‑1B, H‑2B and PERM labor certification.
• Conduct legal research, assist with case strategy and draft affidavits, client declarations and letters of support.
• Translate legal documents and client materials between Spanish and English with accuracy.
• Provide simultaneous interpretation during attorney‑client consultations.
• Communicate with bilingual clients, gather information, answer questions and guide them through the immigration process.

Required profile

• Law degree obtained in your home country.
• At least 1 year of hands‑on experience in U.S. immigration law within a law firm or accredited representative setting.
• Native or near‑native fluency in both Spanish and English, written and spoken, with real‑time interpretation ability.
• Demonstrated ability to draft complex immigration documents independently under attorney supervision.
• Working knowledge of USCIS processes, the EOIR system and relevant regulatory frameworks (INA, CFR, USCIS Policy Manual).
• Immediate availability to work during U.S. Mountain Time business hours.
• Own computer, reliable internet connection and a quiet workspace suitable for client calls.
