Behavioral Health Counselor (Part‑Time)

About the role

The Department of Community Supervision seeks a part‑time Behavioral Health Counselor to provide guidance and support to individuals under community supervision. This role focuses on prevention, behavior modification, and helping clients achieve successful outcomes while on probation or parole.

Key responsibilities

• Counsel individuals under supervision with emphasis on prevention and behavior modification.
• Act as an advocate to coordinate services such as employment, housing, education, mental health, and substance‑use treatment.
• Conduct assessments, interviews, observations, and random drug screenings.
• Provide individual and group counseling to develop coping skills and address dependencies.
• Develop, implement, and monitor treatment plans while maintaining confidential case records.
• Facilitate substance‑use and cognitive programming; travel for training, court, or group sessions as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university, or certification as an addiction counselor (GACA or equivalent).
• Preferred: one year of counseling experience with substance‑abuse clients, experience facilitating CBT classes, or a professional credential such as LPC, CADC/CAC, or LCSW.

• Part‑time credentialed counselor: $31.37 per hour.
