Lab Assistant, Natural Science A&S

About the role

The State of Georgia is seeking a Lab Assistant to support natural science laboratories. You will work under general supervision to prepare specimens, solutions, and equipment for biology, chemistry, and related experiments while ensuring a safe and organized lab environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare test specimens, growth media, and chemical solutions for lab use.
• Set up, operate, and monitor laboratory equipment, reporting any issues to the supervisor.
• Clean and sanitize lab spaces and equipment after experiments.
• Maintain chemical inventory, including proper storage, disposal, and record‑keeping.
• Manage material safety data sheets and assist with general record‑keeping tasks.
• Follow all safety protocols and assist with compliance reporting.

Required profile

• Successful completion of relevant laboratory coursework with a minimum grade of B in lab components (e.g., Anatomy & Physiology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Biology).
• Strong computer application skills.
• Ability to work independently under general supervision.
• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication abilities.
