AWS Security Engineer

About the role

The AWS Security Engineer will support University of Maryland Global Campus by securing its AWS cloud infrastructure and applications. Reporting to the Manager of Information Security, the contractor will design, implement, and maintain security controls while collaborating with cross‑functional teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and manage AWS security controls such as IAM, VPC, S3, KMS, GuardDuty, CloudTrail and Security Hub.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments, penetration testing and risk analyses, and apply mitigations.
• Monitor security events, support incident response and forensic investigations.
• Automate security processes and integrate tools into CI/CD pipelines.
• Develop and maintain security policies, procedures and documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of AWS security engineering experience with deep knowledge of core AWS services.
• Strong background in vulnerability management, incident response and security assessments.
• Excellent problem‑solving, analytical and communication skills.
