AV Engineer
Faire · San Francisco
Job description
About the role
Faire's AV Operations team owns the technology that lets people meet, present and gather, from conference rooms and phone booths to training rooms, event spaces, digital signage, office background music and live event production. As an AV Engineer you will own day-to-day operations of standard rooms and workplace media systems, including preventative maintenance, hands-on break/fix and the content pipelines behind signage and music. You will run events yourself, from Company All Hands to leadership on-sites, and be based onsite in the San Francisco office five days a week, supporting other offices remotely with occasional travel.
Key responsibilities
- Preventative maintenance of conference rooms and phone booths: displays, video bars, controllers, schedulers, table mics and in-room cabling.
- Daily room sweeps in SF and triage of reports from other offices into same-day fixes, scheduled remediation or projects.
- Respond to AV tickets in standard rooms and resolve them remotely via tools such as Zoom Admin Portal and Logitech Sync.
- Keep AV devices updated within IT Security timelines, plan update waves and track compliance across the fleet.
- Inspect displays for burn-in, enforce background rotation and validate power schedules.
- Manage the digital signage content pipeline and office background music accounts, enabling Workplace partners to manage their own playlists and zones.
- Maintain common-area displays, keep a documented spares inventory and keep room records, SOPs and runbooks current.
- Train end users on source and display selection, Zoom Rooms controllers, UCI panels, wireless mics and podium inputs, and guide teams running smaller live events.
- Support live events from setup and sound checks to day-of support, and partner with senior AV engineers on DSP, Q-SYS, Dante and RF work.
Required profile
- 2 to 4 years supporting AV, IT or workplace technology.
- Hands-on experience with video conferencing room systems; Zoom Rooms strongly preferred, along with Logitech (Rally family, Tap, Sync) or equivalent.
- Ticket-driven support experience with clear written documentation habits.
- Able to work on ladders, lift equipment and access ceilings and racks.
Required skills
- Comfort with displays, mounts, cabling and HDMI and USB signal flow.
- Networking fundamentals: IP, VLANs, PoE and DHCP.
- Nice to have: digital signage platforms, commercial audio and DSP concepts, Q-SYS, Shure or Dante, MDM for Apple devices, and a live event or production support background.
What we offer
- Salary range of $144,000 to $198,000 per year in San Francisco, plus eligibility for equity and benefits.
- Paid time off, recharge days, paid parental leave up to 16 weeks and comprehensive health coverage.
- Fertility and family-building benefits, mental health support, professional development stipends and a retirement plan.
