Automation Engineering Specialist 1

About the role

TTI Anderson is hiring an Automation Engineering Specialist 1 who supports Product Development and Engineering by building test systems and automating product testing. The Test Automation Group designs, builds and automates the mechanical and electrical systems of new and existing test lab systems. The role suits someone with a strong aptitude for developing mechanical and electrical solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop mechanical mechanisms and generate mechanical parts using CAD.
• Write basic programming (PLCs, robots, etc.) and wire systems.
• Debug and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and controls-related issues.
• Assemble mechanical and electrical systems and support wiring, fixture assembly and test system build activities.
• Work as part of a cross-functional team and write technical reports.

Required profile

• Associate's degree (preferred) in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Machine Tool Technology or a similar field, or equivalent hands-on technical experience.
• 0-3 years of relevant lab or technical experience preferred.
• Demonstrated mechanical and/or electrical aptitude.
• Project management skills, organization, attention to detail and strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Able to travel 5% and meet physical demands such as lifting 50 pounds occasionally and frequent standing and walking.

Required skills

• Basic use of lab equipment (multimeters, instrumentation, power supplies, data acquisition systems, power analyzers).
• Basic machining skills and basic understanding of circuits and electronics.
• Preferred: 3D CAD (SolidWorks or NX), data acquisition, PLC and HMI programming (National Instruments, Allen-Bradley, Click, Groov EPIC, Mitsubishi), Ignition or other SCADA.
• Working knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
