Associate Model Development – Hybrid

About the role

The Associate, Model Development will lead the creation and upkeep of advanced empirical models, including credit scoring models, for a non‑prime auto lender. This hybrid position blends quantitative analysis with direct collaboration across business and technology teams, supporting critical decision‑making processes.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise development and maintenance of complex mathematical and credit origination scorecards.
• Formulate assumptions, theory, and empirical evidence to ensure statistical and mathematical soundness.
• Apply statistical techniques to analyze trends, uncover risks, and identify opportunities for portfolio management.
• Build robust model development datasets using internal and external data sources.
• Ensure modeling projects follow company policies and accepted mathematical practices.
• Communicate modeling needs to senior leadership and the Director of Quantitative Modeling.
• Assess department procedures for accuracy and completeness on a periodic basis.
• Translate analytic findings into executive‑level summary documents.
• Liaise with IT and other teams to define data requirements and ensure timely delivery.
• Support independent model validation activities and documentation in line with SR 11‑07 regulations.
• Mentor junior statisticians and contribute to their professional development.

Required profile

• Strong quantitative background with hands‑on data‑analysis experience.
• Ability to supervise and guide complex model development projects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reporting to internal and external stakeholders.
• Understanding of credit scoring, risk modeling, and portfolio analytics.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements such as SR 11‑07.
