Associate General Counsel, Litigation

About the role

Roku is seeking an Associate General Counsel to lead its litigation portfolio outside of intellectual property matters. You will oversee consumer class actions, commercial disputes, and privacy‑related litigation across hardware, streaming, and advertising businesses.

Key responsibilities

• Own Roku’s corporate litigation portfolio, including consumer class actions, contract disputes, and privacy claims under statutes such as VPPA, CIPA, BIPA, and CCPA.
• Manage disputes and government investigations from intake through resolution, defining strategy and directing outside counsel.
• Make tactical decisions on fighting, settling, or escalating matters.
• Draft and review briefs, internal memoranda, demand letters, and other legal documents.
• Collaborate with the VP, Deputy General Counsel, Strategic Litigation and IP on case strategy.

Required profile

• Seasoned attorney with extensive litigation experience, especially in consumer, commercial, and privacy matters.
• Comfortable navigating ambiguous legal issues and developing novel case theories.
• Exceptional analytical and written communication skills.
• Ability to lead and coordinate outside counsel and internal stakeholders.

Required skills

• Litigation management across multiple jurisdictions.
• Deep knowledge of privacy and data protection statutes (VPPA, CIPA, BIPA, CCPA).
• Experience with consumer class actions and government investigations.
• Strong legal research, drafting, and negotiation abilities.
