Assistant/Associate Professor of Legal Writing (Law School)

About the role

Saint Louis University School of Law is seeking a full‑time faculty member for its first‑year Legal Analysis, Research, and Communication (LARC) program, beginning Fall 2026. The position involves teaching core legal writing and research courses to first‑year JD students and contributing to the scholarly life of the law school.

Key responsibilities

• Teach two sections of LARC I in the fall semester and two sections of LARC II in the spring semester.
• Provide instruction in both the day‑time JD program and, as needed, the part‑time evening JD program.
• Develop and potentially teach upper‑level and summer courses.
• Hire and supervise research and teaching assistants.
• Serve on law school committees and participate in governance.
• Engage in scholarly activities and apply for developmental leave.

Required profile

• J.D. degree from an accredited law school.
• Record of academic excellence.
• Experience in teaching, legal practice, or judicial clerkship.
• Commitment to inclusive teaching practices that support diverse learners.
