About the role
The State of Georgia’s Chattahoochee Judicial Circuit Public Defender’s Office is seeking an Assistant Public Defender I. This entry‑level position provides zealous representation to indigent clients in criminal matters before the Superior Court.
Key responsibilities
- Represent indigent clients in criminal cases of routine complexity.
- Prepare legal documents, conduct research, and manage case files.
- Appear in court, negotiate with prosecutors, and advocate for client rights.
- Collaborate with senior defenders and support staff.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required profile
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited institution.
- Active membership in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia, or eligibility to sit for the Georgia Bar exam and obtain licensure within one year of hiring.
- Strong commitment to indigent defense.
