Assistant Professor of Clinical Anesthesiology & Trauma

About the role

The Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative Medicine and Pain Management at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine seeks an Assistant Professor of Clinical Anesthesiology with a focus on trauma. This full‑time faculty position involves delivering anesthesia services, supervising trainees, and contributing to the academic mission of the department.

Key responsibilities

• Provide anesthesia for a broad case mix including orthopedics, gynecology, community obstetrics, abdominal surgery, vascular procedures, and kidney transplants.
• Supervise residents, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs), and Student Registered Nurse Anesthetists (SRNAs) in the operating room.
• Participate in teaching, mentoring, departmental conferences, and faculty meetings.
• Perform overnight calls (3‑4 per month) and occasional evening/weekend coverage.
• Engage in research activities when applicable and support departmental grant efforts.

Required profile

• Completion of a US‑approved anesthesiology residency or equivalent training.
• Board eligibility or certification in Anesthesiology (or equivalent).
• Ability to work independently and manage a diverse surgical caseload.
• Comfort with supervising trainees and contributing to an academic environment.
• Research experience is highly desirable but not mandatory.
