Assistant Professor – Criminology & Criminal Justice (9‑Month NTT)

About the role

The School of Social Work at Saint Louis University seeks a 9‑month, non‑tenure‑track Assistant Professor in Criminology and Criminal Justice to begin Fall 2027. The faculty member will join the Criminology and Criminal Justice Program and support both graduate and undergraduate teaching.

Key responsibilities

• Teach core criminology and criminal justice courses in accordance with program needs.
• Develop new courses or modules, potentially in areas such as cybersecurity, international criminology, or victimology.
• Contribute to curriculum design and academic advising for students.
• Engage in scholarly activities consistent with a non‑tenure‑track appointment.

Required profile

• Minimum of a Master’s degree in Criminology, Criminal Justice, or a closely related field; Ph.D. preferred.
• A law degree (J.D.) alone does not satisfy the qualification.
• Demonstrated passion for teaching and ability to deliver high‑quality instruction.
• Prior university teaching experience or relevant professional experience in the criminal justice system is desirable.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of criminology and criminal justice theory and practice.
• Ability to design and deliver curriculum for undergraduate and graduate students.
• Familiarity with emerging topics such as cybersecurity, international criminology, or victimology is a plus.
