Assistant Director of Faculty-Led Programs

About the role

The Assistant Director of Faculty-Led Programs supports the design, implementation, and promotion of faculty‑led study‑abroad experiences at Northeastern University. The role combines program development, student advising, and administrative oversight to ensure high‑quality global learning opportunities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide end‑to‑end support for an assigned portfolio of faculty‑led programs, including proposal development, budgeting, vendor negotiation, and quality assessment.
• Advise students on program selection, financial options, application processes, pre‑departure orientations, and re‑entry programming.
• Manage the Terra Dotta application system, troubleshoot issues, and serve on‑campus customer service rotations.
• Participate in site visits, conferences, and occasional evening or weekend events to support students and faculty.

Required profile

• Knowledge of advising techniques for study‑abroad programs and familiarity with Forum on Education Abroad standards.
• Strong oral and written communication skills for diverse cultural and linguistic audiences.
• Effective organizational, project‑management, and analytical abilities in a fast‑paced environment.
• Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s preferred) and experience living or studying abroad.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications.
• Experience with Salesforce, Terra Dotta, and student record systems such as Banner.
