Assistant Director, Nursing

About the role

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences is seeking an Assistant Director of Nursing to support the delivery of high‑quality patient care and to lead nursing operations within its clinical environment. This senior nursing leader will work closely with the Director of Nursing and interdisciplinary teams to ensure efficient, safe, and compassionate care.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in overseeing daily nursing operations and clinical support services.
• Coordinate staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation for nursing units.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, accreditation requirements, and hospital policies.
• Lead quality improvement initiatives and monitor performance metrics.
• Collaborate with physicians, administrators, and support staff to optimize patient outcomes.
• Supervise training, mentorship, and professional development of nursing personnel.
• Participate in budget planning and financial management for the nursing department.

Required profile

• Current RN licensure with eligibility to practice in Arkansas.
• Graduate‑level education in nursing or health administration preferred.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in a clinical setting.
• Proof of legal authority to work in the United States.
