Assistant Chess Instructor – Fall

About the role

Chess Wizards is looking for enthusiastic Assistant Chess Instructors to support its after‑school enrichment program during the Fall season. You will work with elementary students, helping them learn chess fundamentals while gaining classroom experience.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the lead Chess Instructor in setting up and running a 1.5‑hour class for 15‑22 elementary students.
• Provide one‑on‑one or small‑group support, explaining piece movements, basic strategies and simple tactics.
• Help maintain a positive, engaging classroom environment and enforce school safety protocols.
• Travel to various local school sites, arriving on time and prepared for each session.

Required profile

• Genuine interest in working with elementary students and promoting good sportsmanship.
• Reliable transportation and ability to drive between school locations.
• Availability on weekday afternoons (2 PM‑5 PM) to teach 1‑5 classes per week.
• Strong punctuality, time‑management and adherence to school safety policies.
