Applications Engineer

About the role

You will build the application layer that connects our AI models to partner scientists, turning variant scores into usable tools for computational biologists.

Key responsibilities

• Develop interactive workbenches, variant scoring pipelines, and tools that make model output accessible to scientists unfamiliar with APIs.
• Run models on partner data and present results with sufficient interpretability for computational biologists.
• Build evaluation infrastructure, including benchmarks, blind retrospectives, and head‑to‑head comparisons against existing tools.
• Present work directly in partner meetings, address technical objections in real time, and iterate quickly on feedback.
• Ship features on a weekly cadence, often prototyping live during partner conversations.

Required profile

• Experience working with real genomic data (VCFs, reference builds, variant annotation) and handling its messiness.
• Comfortable engaging with partner computational biology teams as a technical peer, even in skeptical discussions.
• Ability to operate without a finished specification, turning rough directions into working systems within a week.
• Background in forward‑deployed engineering, solutions engineering, or founding engineering at an AI or infrastructure company.

Required skills

• Python for data and model work.
• TypeScript and React (or similar) for building interfaces.
• Experience with genomic data formats such as VCF.
