Application Engineering Specialist

About the role

The Application Engineering Specialist will join 3M’s Industrial Adhesives and Tapes Division to drive new bonding applications across the United States and Canada. You will work closely with customers, field sales, and marketing teams to provide technical expertise and develop innovative adhesive and tape solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and develop new applications for 3M adhesive and tape products.
• Provide technical support to solve complex customer design challenges.
• Engage with customers, sales, and marketing to gather requirements and deliver application guidance.
• Perform product and application characterization, including dispensing and automation projects.
• Create technical documentation, demonstration tools, and training materials.
• Collaborate with product development, engineering, and marketing to align solutions with market needs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a science or engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
• Minimum five years of laboratory, technical, or applied‑science experience in a private, public, government, or military setting.
• At least one year of customer‑facing technical support, product development, or field service experience.

Required skills

• Knowledge of adhesive and tape technologies.
• Experience with product and application characterization.
• Familiarity with adhesive dispensing and automation processes.
• Ability to develop technical documentation and training resources.
