AmeriCorps Sports Coach for Youth Development

About the role

Coach Across America is seeking AmeriCorps members to serve as sports coaches for elementary to high‑school youth in New Orleans. You will receive training in Sports‑Based Youth Development and work directly with schools and after‑school programs to promote physical and mental well‑being.

Key responsibilities

• Assist PE teachers with lesson delivery and facilitate structured recess activities.
• Coach or assist a sports team, delivering skill‑building drills and encouraging participation.
• Provide one‑on‑one and small‑group support to identified students, focusing on both athletic and social‑emotional growth.
• Implement behavior‑management strategies and collect surveys and roster information.
• Create a safe, engaging play environment that fosters youth development.

Required profile

• U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident, at least 18 years old.
• Working toward or holding a high‑school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Reliable transportation and successful completion of a background check.
