Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Mechanic

About the role

The Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Mechanic provides installation, maintenance, and emergency support for campus HVAC and refrigeration systems under general supervision.

Key responsibilities

• Service, repair, and operate all air‑conditioning, heating, and refrigeration equipment.
• Plan and schedule work with the supervisor, including preventive‑maintenance programs.
• Identify and report parts and supply needs; complete work‑order documentation promptly.
• Respond to hot‑ and cold‑call priorities, on‑call duties, and emergency situations such as severe weather events.
• Communicate work progress to building occupants and the Campus Operations EHS team.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; six years of related HVAC experience.
• EPA 608 (Universal) certification or ability to obtain within 12 months.
• Registered TDLR‑AC Technician or ability to obtain certification within 12 months.

Required skills

• EPA 608 certification.
• TDLR AC Technician registration.
• Installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of HVAC and commercial refrigeration systems.
• Preventive‑maintenance planning and execution.
• Emergency response for HVAC failures.
