After School Teacher

About the role

Apollo After School is seeking enthusiastic teachers to provide after‑school care and enrichment programs for elementary students in Chicago. The position is seasonal, following the 2026‑2027 school district calendar, with flexible hours across before‑care, recess, and after‑care periods.

Key responsibilities

• Provide a high‑quality learning environment and manage activities that extend the school day.
• Assist in implementing classroom curriculum and weekly lesson plans as needed.
• Ensure the safety and security of children and follow the designated schedule and routine.
• Support students with homework completion and foster a positive, engaging atmosphere.

Required profile

• Minimum of one year experience working with school‑age youth (ages 4‑10) in a school or after‑school setting.
• High school diploma or equivalent; 18+ years old.
• Ability to command respect, run a classroom independently, and collaborate with peers.
• Problem‑solving skills for elementary‑aged children and a genuine passion for working with kids.

Required skills

• Current CPR certification obtained through in‑person training.
• Current First Aid certification obtained through in‑person training.
