Advanced Engineer Specialist

About the role

The Advanced Engineer Specialist will join 3M's Specialty Materials Development Lab (SMDL) to drive breakthrough material projects. Working with global research teams, you will apply scientific expertise to develop, scale, and commercialize new materials that support 3M’s growth.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage projects in chemical operations, new material development, and chemical process development.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to identify and prioritize lab or plant improvement initiatives.
• Drive projects that advance remediation technologies through field trials.
• Improve manufacturing capabilities by implementing new technologies and processes.
• Interface with stakeholders to define problems, develop solutions, and generate intellectual property.
• Travel as needed to support project execution and business needs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline.
• Minimum five years of experience in project management within private, public, government, or military environments.
• Proven ability to lead technical projects and work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong communication skills to influence, motivate, and teach team members.
