Transportation Specialist – Intermodal Operations

About the role

Amazon’s Intermodal (AZIM) Operations team is looking for a highly motivated Transportation Specialist to ensure the smooth flow of freight across its 1P network. You will act as the first line of defense, monitoring shipments, resolving disruptions, and keeping all stakeholders informed.

Key responsibilities

• Communicate with carriers, rail partners, vendors, program managers, and fulfillment centers.
• Extract and analyse data from multiple databases using Excel and SQL to produce ad‑hoc reports.
• Monitor performance metrics and identify trends, delays, or dwell times.
• Resolve disruptions in real time, reroute shipments, and ensure on‑time pickup and delivery.
• Escalate issues to appropriate owners and follow through on resolutions.
• Provide a positive carrier and driver experience in a fast‑paced contact‑center environment.

Required profile

• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to make quick, data‑driven decisions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work under tight time constraints and handle multiple priorities.
• Motivation to continuously improve processes and customer experience.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience writing queries and extracting data with SQL.
