Systems Engineer II – Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)

About the role

Parsons is seeking a Systems Engineer II to support the modernization of the Gun Weapon System program using Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) practices. The role focuses on transitioning a legacy Ada‑based software architecture to a modular Java‑based solution within a System‑of‑Systems environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain MBSE models using SysML and Cameo Systems Modeler (or MagicDraw) to capture operational concepts, requirements, functional and logical architectures.
• Document system behavior, interfaces, data flows, and software component relationships to support software refactoring and modularization.
• Collaborate with systems engineers, software architects, developers, test engineers, and platform teams to ensure models accurately represent current and future‑state architectures.
• Facilitate architecture reviews, model walkthroughs, and technical working groups, translating complex software concepts for both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 3+ years of experience in systems engineering, software engineering, or architecture.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance (U.S. citizenship required).
• Experience applying MBSE principles on complex defense, aerospace, or large‑scale commercial systems.

Required skills

• SysML modeling and Cameo Systems Modeler (or MagicDraw).
• Software architecture documentation, especially legacy Ada and Java migration.
• Familiarity with architecture frameworks such as DoDAF, UAF, and MODAF.
• Experience with requirements management tools (e.g., IBM DOORS or equivalent).
