Systems Administrator 2 – HPC Support

About the role

TAP Engineering is looking for a Systems Administrator 2 to support high‑performance computing (HPC) environments. You will manage Linux/Unix servers, storage, and network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux and Unix operating systems.
• Support enterprise storage systems, including configuration, monitoring, and issue resolution.
• Manage file systems, software installations, OS upgrades, and system configurations.
• Monitor servers, storage, and network components; diagnose Tier 1 and Tier 2 issues.
• Support TCP/IP networking and high‑speed HPC technologies such as InfiniBand and Slingshot.
• Develop and maintain Bash scripts to automate administrative tasks.
• Compile, install, and maintain software applications in Linux environments.
• Assist with capacity planning, performance optimization, and infrastructure growth.
• Maintain clear technical documentation and communicate status to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with engineers to improve system reliability and efficiency.

Required profile

• Active TS/SCI clearance with Full Scope Polygraph (within the last 7 years).
• DoD 8570 IAT II certification.
• 5+ years of Linux/Unix system administration experience (or 10 years without a degree).
• Hands‑on experience with enterprise storage and TCP/IP networking.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
