About the role
TAP Engineering is looking for a Systems Administrator 2 to support high‑performance computing (HPC) environments. You will manage Linux/Unix servers, storage, and network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
Key responsibilities
- Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux and Unix operating systems.
- Support enterprise storage systems, including configuration, monitoring, and issue resolution.
- Manage file systems, software installations, OS upgrades, and system configurations.
- Monitor servers, storage, and network components; diagnose Tier 1 and Tier 2 issues.
- Support TCP/IP networking and high‑speed HPC technologies such as InfiniBand and Slingshot.
- Develop and maintain Bash scripts to automate administrative tasks.
- Compile, install, and maintain software applications in Linux environments.
- Assist with capacity planning, performance optimization, and infrastructure growth.
- Maintain clear technical documentation and communicate status to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with engineers to improve system reliability and efficiency.
Required profile
- Active TS/SCI clearance with Full Scope Polygraph (within the last 7 years).
- DoD 8570 IAT II certification.
- 5+ years of Linux/Unix system administration experience (or 10 years without a degree).
- Hands‑on experience with enterprise storage and TCP/IP networking.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
