Principal Software Engineer – VPC Network

About the role

JPMorganChase is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead the design and implementation of JPMC‑VPC, a next‑generation software‑defined networking platform. You will work within an agile team to build secure, scalable, and high‑performance networking solutions that support the firm’s strategic transformation.

Key responsibilities

• Design and architect core components of JPMC‑VPC, including control, distribution, and data planes (OVS/DPU), software gateways, load balancers, and IPAM systems.
• Develop, review, test, and debug production‑grade code in Go, Python, Rust, or C/C++.
• Create reusable, scalable software frameworks using best‑practice design patterns.
• Architect AI‑enabled engineering workflows and enforce security, resiliency, and validation controls.
• Apply SDLC tools, automation frameworks, infrastructure‑as‑code, CI/CD, and observability platforms to improve outcomes at scale.
• Advise cross‑functional teams and senior stakeholders on networking, distributed systems, cloud‑native, and SDN technologies.
• Collaborate with strategic vendors such as Red Hat and NVIDIA on roadmaps and integrations.
• Drive adoption of modern engineering methodologies and serve as the subject‑matter expert for networking and software‑defined infrastructure.

Required profile

• Extensive experience designing large‑scale networking platforms and software‑defined networking solutions.
• Proven ability to lead complex technical initiatives and influence senior leadership.
• Strong collaboration skills with internal teams and external partners.
• Deep understanding of cloud‑native architectures, distributed systems, and AI‑enabled workflows.
