Structures/Bridges Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Structures/Bridges Engineer to support the engineering design of bridges and related structures. The role involves delivering high-quality design services, collaborating with bridge staff, and contributing to client relationships using cutting-edge technology.

Key responsibilities

• Design and review retaining walls and other structural components for roadway and site civil projects.
• Prepare structure type selection studies and perform bridge designs and load ratings using spreadsheets, finite-element and bridge software.
• Collaborate with bridge teams to produce PS&E contract documents on schedule and within budget for local, state and federal agencies.
• Assist local teams in establishing and maintaining client relationships and ensure design objectives are met.
• Support the firm’s regional presence in transportation-related structural engineering.

Required profile

• B.S. in Civil Engineering (Master’s with structures emphasis is a plus).
• Passed the Professional Engineer (P.E.) exam (registration preferred).
• 3–7 years of experience in bridge and structural design.
• Strong self-initiative and ability to prioritize multiple project requests.
• Willingness to travel occasionally for fieldwork and to work independently.

Required skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Experience with MicroStation.
• Use of spreadsheets for load rating calculations.
• Knowledge of finite-element analysis software.
• Familiarity with bridge design software.
