Software Developer – Java, Calypso & AWS

About the role

The Federal Reserve Bank of New York is seeking a Software Developer to design and build Java‑based microservices that extend and integrate the Calypso platform within its Post Trade & Custody transformation program. You will work on a high‑impact team that supports the nation’s central banking operations.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy Java/Spring Boot microservices that communicate with Calypso via APIs, messaging, and file interfaces.
• Build and maintain Kafka streaming pipelines for real‑time data exchange between Calypso and upstream/downstream systems.
• Architect a scalable, resilient integration layer outside of Calypso, ensuring loose coupling and high availability.
• Deploy and manage services in an AWS environment (EC2, S3, Lambda, etc.).
• Collaborate with Calypso platform teams, architects, and business analysts to define integration contracts and error‑handling strategies.
• Participate in design and code reviews, support testing phases, and define Day‑2 support processes.

Required profile

• Strong hands‑on experience with Java and Spring Boot for building microservices.
• Demonstrated ability to design and implement Kafka‑based messaging solutions.
• Practical experience deploying applications in AWS.
• Background in financial systems, capital markets, treasury, or post‑trade/custody is strongly preferred.
• Eligibility to obtain FOMC access; full‑time employment only.
