Simulator Pilot Instructor – Fighter Training

About the role

The Air Force Civilian Service seeks a full‑time Simulator Pilot Instructor to support the graduate fighter pilot flying training program at Tyndall AFB. You will deliver simulator and academic instruction, shaping the next generation of combat pilots and strengthening U.S. air dominance.

Key responsibilities

• Provide aircraft simulator and classroom instruction following the prescribed syllabus for fighter pilot training.
• Instruct students in a full range of fighter maneuvers, including high‑speed low‑level flight, aerial refueling, and weapons employment.
• Develop training goals, monitor progress, evaluate program success, and advise on curriculum changes.

Required profile

• Minimum 1,500 total flight hours, including 250 PIC, 75 night, and 75 instrument hours (with at least 10 actual instrument).
• U.S. civilian status, ability to obtain Top Secret/SCI clearance, and a DD‑214 (Member 4) for military experience.
• Experience as a 4th‑ or 5th‑generation fighter pilot and a certified flight instructor or equivalent military instructor rating.

Required skills

• Knowledge of high‑performance fighter aircraft systems and corresponding simulator operations.
• Familiarity with curriculum development, Instructional Systems Development (ISD) processes, and advanced instructional techniques.
• Proficiency with computer applications and simulator systems to achieve learning objectives.

What we offer

• Salary range $106,000 – $138,000 per year.
• Recruitment incentive equal to 50% of annual salary, payable as a bonus.
• No 180‑day waiver requirement and a potential 1‑ or 2‑year trial period based on position type.
