Service Support Subject Matter Expert – USASOC

About the role

The Service Support Subject Matter Expert provides operational expertise for Mission Command Exercises at the Special Operations Mission Training Center. The role integrates service support considerations into realistic training scenarios to prepare Special Operations Forces headquarters and staffs for operational employment.

Key responsibilities

• Support Mission Command Exercise planning, preparation, coordination, and execution.
• Develop and integrate operational scenarios and service support considerations into training environments.
• Coordinate with exercise planners, subject matter experts, and simulation personnel to enhance realism.
• Analyze exercise requirements, provide after‑action support, and recommend improvements.
• Assist contractors and government personnel in achieving exercise objectives.
• Support design and development of Mission Readiness Exercise products and training materials.
• Participate in headquarters‑level training audiences during exercise execution.
• Provide operational expertise related to support functions within Special Operations Forces environments.

Required profile

• Associate degree (or five years related military experience) and active Secret security clearance.
• Completed advanced U.S. military officer or non‑commissioned officer education courses (e.g., Captain Career Course, Advanced NCO Course).
• Experience assigned to Special Operations Forces or related branches and at least two years researching and executing Mission Command Exercises.
• Ability to formulate and integrate exercise scenarios and working knowledge of operational planning and collective training concepts.
• Maintain a minimum Secret clearance throughout contract performance and comply with security program requirements.
• Physical ability to travel, operate computers, and work in classroom, exercise, operations‑center, and training environments.
