Senior Tax Analyst

About the role

SpaceX is seeking a Senior Tax Analyst to join its tax team in Hawthorne, CA. The role works closely with the Director of Tax to manage the company’s domestic and international tax operations, ensuring compliance and strategic tax planning.

Key responsibilities

• Provide tax-related information to external advisors for federal and multi‑state returns and prepare quarterly estimates.
• Collaborate with external advisors to review and file federal and multi‑state tax returns.
• Prepare the annual tax provision and maintain major tax accounts in accordance with ASC 740, FIN 48, and related standards.
• Manage tax audits and coordinate responses with external auditors and tax advisors.
• Process notices, refunds, and coordinate multi‑state income, sales & use, property taxes, business licenses, and permits.
• Serve as primary contact for outside auditors and tax service providers on compliance, strategic projects, and planning initiatives.
• Communicate tax impacts of business strategies to internal groups and identify process‑efficiency improvements.
• Assist in developing and implementing tax strategies and initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, tax, or business.
• 4+ years of combined tax experience, preferably in public accounting.
• Prior Big 4 experience and CPA certification preferred.
• Experience with income tax provisions, corporate income taxation, and sales & use tax filings.
• Ability to interpret technical tax and financial reporting requirements and substantiate tax positions.
• Willingness to work onsite full‑time in Hawthorne, CA and handle extended hours as needed.
