Senior FHIR Platform Engineer (Remote)

About the role

VetsEZ is seeking a Senior FHIR Platform Engineer to lead the design, development, and support of healthcare interoperability solutions for a large federal government modernization project. This 100% remote position works closely with architects, developers, testers, and external partners to deliver secure, standards‑compliant APIs.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, implement, and maintain FHIR‑based integration solutions using HAPI FHIR, US Core profiles, SMART on FHIR, Bulk Data export, CDS Hooks, electronic case reporting, and asynchronous MDM integration.
• Produce implementation guides, vendor‑facing documentation, and detailed integration specifications.
• Support integration testing, performance tuning, security validation, and production readiness activities.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure solutions are scalable, supportable, and compliant with federal healthcare standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Healthcare Informatics or related field.
• 10+ years of professional experience in healthcare interoperability and FHIR implementation.
• Strong problem‑solving, analytical, and technical design skills.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a Government/Public Trust clearance.

Required skills

• HAPI FHIR, FHIR resource modeling, profiles, validation, conformance.
• Java, Spring Boot, RESTful API development.
• HL7 standards, US Core, SMART on FHIR, FHIR Bulk Data, CDS Hooks.
• Experience with electronic health record integration, health information exchanges, and API security.
