Senior Backend Developer – Python, Data Engineering, GCP

About the role

This is a hands‑on senior position focused on backend development and data engineering. You will own features end‑to‑end, from data ingestion and ETL pipelines to API delivery and frontend integration using AI‑assisted tools.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain Python backend services, APIs, and asynchronous workflows in production.
• Design, optimise and run ETL pipelines, scheduled jobs and complex BigQuery queries on large geographic datasets.
• Manage GCP infrastructure including Compute Engine, BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, monitoring and load balancing.
• Implement caching, pre‑computing and data packaging strategies for high‑traffic applications.
• Collaborate with the React/Next.js frontend codebase, using AI tools to connect APIs to the UI.

Required profile

• Strong professional experience developing production‑grade Python backend systems and APIs.
• Deep expertise with BigQuery and advanced SQL on large historical/geographic datasets.
• Hands‑on experience managing GCP services (Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub).
• Proficiency in building ETL pipelines, background jobs and asynchronous processing.
• Fluent English and availability during Central Time business hours.
