Senior Accountant – Vacation Rental Portfolio (Remote)

About the role

Howard Financial is seeking a seasoned Senior Accountant with direct vacation‑rental experience to lead client onboarding and optimize accounting workflows for short‑term rental businesses. This fully remote position supports a growing portfolio of vacation‑rental clients across U.S. time zones.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the onboarding of new vacation‑rental clients, ensuring accurate setup of accounting systems.
• Customize and streamline accounting workflows tailored to each client’s property portfolio.
• Prepare, review, and close month‑end financial statements, reconciliations, and owner statements.
• Work with vacation‑rental platforms such as property‑management systems, channel managers, and trust‑accounting tools.
• Ensure compliance with industry‑specific accounting standards and best practices.
• Identify process improvements and implement scalable accounting solutions.
• Collaborate with internal teams to enhance efficiency and client experience.
• Serve as the subject‑matter expert for vacation‑rental accounting matters.

Required profile

• 5+ years of senior‑level accounting experience, preferably in the vacation‑rental sector.
• Proven expertise in trust accounting, owner statements, and property‑level reporting.
• Strong track record of onboarding new clients and configuring accounting systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and able to work independently in a remote environment.

Required skills

• QuickBooks (or comparable accounting software).
• AppFolio (or similar vacation‑rental focused platforms).
