Section Chief, Hospital Medicine (Physician) – Full‑Time Academic

About the role

Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport and LSU Health Science Center‑Shreveport are seeking an experienced physician to lead the Hospital Medicine Section within the Department of Medicine. The role combines clinical hospitalist duties with academic leadership, schedule management, quality metric oversight, teaching, and committee participation.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct clinical care as a hospitalist.
• Publish and manage the schedule for faculty hospitalists.
• Create, track, and incentivize quality metrics for the hospital medicine program.
• Teach house staff and medical students and ensure completion of learner evaluations.
• Conduct annual performance evaluations for all hospitalists.
• Serve on the Medical Executive Committee and participate in additional hospital committees.

Required profile

• Board certification or eligibility in Internal Medicine or Hospital Medicine by ABIM.
• At least five years of experience as a hospitalist.
• Excellent clinical, leadership, communication, and teaching abilities.
• Academic experience preferred but not required.
