About the role

The Office of Legal Affairs seeks a Programme Coordinator to manage and implement a capacity‑building programme that supports developing states in ocean governance and the Law of the Sea. The role is home‑based with occasional travel and meetings in the New York City area.

Key responsibilities

  • Coordinate day‑to‑day programme activities, ensuring deliverables are met on time, within budget and to quality standards.
  • Maintain liaison with programme partners, notably the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad), providing regular updates and implementing agreed actions.
  • Organise and support conferences, workshops and training sessions, handling logistical and technical arrangements.
  • Manage programme documentation, including drafting agendas, minutes, reports and publications.
  • Track and fulfil all internal and external reporting requirements, collaborating with financial administration teams.

Required profile

  • Proven experience in programme coordination or capacity‑building, preferably in international development or legal contexts.
  • Familiarity with ocean governance, the Law of the Sea, or related UN initiatives is advantageous.
  • Ability to work independently from a home office while maintaining effective communication with New York‑based stakeholders.
