Pharmacy Care Technician

About the role

Optum, part of UnitedHealth Group, is hiring a Pharmacy Care Technician in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The technician reports to the Manager of Pharmacy and supports centralized pharmacy operations aimed at improving medication adherence and delivering clinical and affordability outcomes. The role is part of an interdisciplinary care team that reaches out proactively to close care gaps and run targeted medication-related interventions. It is a full-time position, Monday to Friday 8am-5pm, with 1 day onsite at 303 Roma Ave in Albuquerque; remote workers must follow the Telecommuter Policy.

Key responsibilities

• Pull fill histories and claims and build draft medication lists for PharmD review
• Reach out to members below 80% PDC, handle refill sync, 90-day supplies and mail-order conversions
• Prepare and track prior authorizations, appeals paperwork and manufacturer patient assistance applications
• Screen members for Extra Help/LIS eligibility and route them to the Social Worker
• Confirm medication changes with pharmacies after PharmD recommendations and track fill gaps after discharge
• Maintain the hub's work queues and intervention log

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED
• Active, unrestricted Pharmacy Technician license in New Mexico
• National Certified Pharmacy Technician (PTCB or ExCPT)
• 2+ years of retail, PBM and/or managed care pharmacy experience
• Preferred: Medicare Part D and STARs adherence experience, prior authorization experience, and bilingual English/Spanish
