Part-Time Event Manager - Candlelight Concerts, Portland (Maine)

About the role

Fever, a tech platform for culture and live entertainment, is hiring a part-time onsite Event Manager for its Candlelight concerts in Portland, Maine. Since 2019, Fever Originals has produced classical music concerts in candlelit settings in venues across the world, and is expanding to new cities. The contract is for 6 months, ideally starting as soon as possible, with shifts of 4-8 hours per day and a maximum of 29 hours per week.

Key responsibilities

• Act as main point of contact onsite for the events and staff, communicating directly with the Fever Originals manager
• Keep full visibility of the staff roster, set schedules and coordinate reschedules with the staffing agency
• Ensure each staff member is trained in their duties, such as ticket validation, seating guests and setting up candles
• Drive uHaul with event supplies between venues (alternative transport arrangements available); manage inventory and printing needs
• Manage guest lists and handle opening and closing remarks, which are usually recorded but may occasionally require public speaking
• Report weekly to project managers on event status, including pre- and post-event findings and feedback
• Occasionally help evaluate and run venue walk-throughs
• Represent the Fever and Candlelight brands professionally and act as the main customer service representative at every event

Required profile

• 1+ years of experience in event management and/or a relevant degree (preferred)
• Interest and passion for live music and organizing events
• Experience leading an on-site team
• Ability to work in a pressured environment and strong problem-solving skills
• Use of a personal laptop is required; a driver's license is strongly preferred

Required skills

• Exceptional customer service skills
• Knowledge of AV and PA systems (desirable)

What we offer

• Pay of $25 per hour, with transport costs included in the hourly rate
• A paid trial work day before an offer is made
• Possibility to extend the contract after the first 6 months and to manage events in other areas

The hiring process starts with a 30-minute video call with the local Project Manager or Producer, followed by the trial day.
