Paramedic – Full-Time & Part-Time

About the role

The City of Wharton is seeking qualified Paramedics to respond to medical emergencies, provide advanced life support, and transport patients safely. Positions are available on both full‑time and part‑time schedules.

Key responsibilities

• Remain on call and respond promptly to medical emergency alarms throughout the City of Wharton and surrounding service areas.
• Administer advanced life support procedures, appropriate medications, and basic life support to individuals experiencing medical emergencies.
• Operate ambulances and related emergency equipment, including lights, sirens, and radios, ensuring safe patient transport to hospitals.
• Prepare and enter accurate patient records and reports into the computer system.
• Inspect, maintain, and restock medical equipment, drug supplies, and ambulance inventory; perform preventive vehicle maintenance.
• Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of the station and ambulances.
• Assist with hazardous materials incidents and fire calls as required.

Required profile

• Certified Paramedic with the ability to work under the direction of the EMS Director or EMS Supervisor.
• Willingness to provide lead or technical supervision to volunteers, EMS students, EMT‑Basics, and EMT‑Intermediates.
• Strong commitment to public safety and the ability to work in high‑stress emergency situations.
