Member of Technical Staff - Shared Services

About the role

Join the Foundations team to build and operate core shared services that power research, training, and production environments at Reflection. You will help create reliable, scalable infrastructure that enables rapid AI experimentation and robust production systems.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain shared services used across research and production workflows.
• Define and uphold reliability targets through SLIs, SLOs, and on‑call practices.
• Maintain operational readiness with runbooks, incident playbooks, and capacity planning.
• Ensure correctness and performance under load, addressing consistency, tail latency, and failure modes.
• Develop APIs, SDKs, and internal platforms to enable high‑velocity experimentation.
• Reduce operational burden via tooling, standardization, and platform patterns.

Required profile

• Strong software engineering background with experience shipping production‑grade systems.
• Experience designing APIs, services, or developer platforms handling large‑scale data or compute.
• Comfortable navigating complex codebases, debugging hard problems, and optimizing for reliability and speed.
• Thrives in a fast‑paced startup environment with a bias toward action and impact.

Required skills

• Go, Rust, C++ programming.
• gRPC, Protobuf.
• Kubernetes, containers‑as‑a‑service, multi‑tenant isolation.
• Distributed systems concepts: sharding, replication, coordination services.
• Reliability engineering: idempotency, retries, backpressure, SLI/SLO design, tail latency optimization.
