Lab Assistant, Welding

About the role

The Welding Laboratory Assistant works under the direct supervision of faculty members and performs routine standardized laboratory work. Responsibilities include preparation, basic maintenance and operation of laboratory equipment, inventory management, and assisting faculty with student supervision. This is a part‑time position employed on an individual academic term basis.

Key responsibilities

• Assist faculty with classroom instruction, exams, record keeping, safety procedures, and attendance tracking.
• Tutor or mentor students in welding techniques and laboratory practices.
• Perform laboratory research and maintain accurate lab records.
• Clean labs and ensure equipment is in safe working condition.
• Obtain and requisition materials needed for classes, including texts and supplies.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and inventory of welding consumables.

Required profile

• Successful completion of welding courses from an accredited college or university.
• One or more years of welding experience.
• Diploma in Welding Technology or a related field from an accredited technical or community college.
• Good interpersonal, organizational and leadership abilities.
