Federal Work Study Student – College Recruitment Worker

About the role

This Federal Work Study position supports the Recruitment Department at Southern Crescent Technical College’s Flint Campus. As a College Recruitment Worker, you will engage prospective students, guide campus tours, and assist with outreach events, providing a professional first impression of the college.

Key responsibilities

• Greet visitors and determine their needs, directing them to appropriate staff.
• Answer, screen, and route telephone calls courteously.
• Deliver accurate messages and respond to inquiries in a timely manner.
• Conduct campus tours for high‑school groups and represent the college at fairs and recruiting events.
• Provide administrative support such as typing, filing, data entry, and correspondence with prospective students.
• Follow scheduling policies, report absences, and adhere to break and lunch guidelines.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• Financial need and Pell‑eligible status.
• Current enrollment at the Flint Campus with satisfactory academic progress.
• Self‑starter with excellent interpersonal and customer‑service skills.
• Strong verbal communication and professional phone etiquette.

Required skills

• Knowledge of phone system operation.
• Ability to use copy and fax machines.
