IT Infrastructure Project Coordinator

About the role

The IT Infrastructure Project Coordinator supports University Information Services by ensuring that IT systems are properly integrated into construction and renovation projects across Georgetown's campuses. This hybrid position serves as the primary on‑site technical liaison, overseeing low‑voltage cabling, hardware installation, and equipment room readiness.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct daily site walkthroughs to monitor progress of IT‑related construction tasks.
• Verify that low‑voltage cabling and infrastructure installations match approved shop drawings.
• Coordinate delivery, inventory, and staging of IT hardware such as switches, access points, and UPS units.
• Assist in documenting as‑built drawings and system certifications.
• Facilitate communication between the IT Program Manager and on‑site trade contractors to resolve field issues promptly.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree or vocational certification in Information Technology, Telecommunications, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years experience in low‑voltage cabling, IT field services, or construction coordination.
• Preferred certifications: BICSI Installer or CompTIA Network+.

Required skills

• Hands‑on knowledge of low‑voltage cabling installation.
• Proficiency with copper/fiber testing equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret basic floor plans and shop drawings.
• Familiarity with IT hardware inventory management (switches, APs, UPS).
• Knowledge of BICSI standards and CompTIA Network+ concepts (if certified).
